Connecting to a translation service
Experience Workspace includes a Translate app that works out-of-the-box. The default connector uses Google Translate and requires no additional setup.
Other translation services are also available. You can configure a supported connector, submit a pull request with your own connector, or request a connector from Adobe.
Use a supported connector
Experience Workspace provides connectors to multiple services in addition to the built-in Google connector:
- Lionbridge
- Smartling
- Trados
These connectors require site-level configuration and service credentials. Please see the documents Translation config options and Translation config samples.
Connector requests
Please contact your Adobe representative to request a new connector.
Implement your own connector
A custom translation connector must implement:
isConnected()to determine whether the user is authenticated to the serviceconnect()to authenticate or connect to the servicesendAllLanguages()to send content for translationgetStatusAll()to retrieve the status of submitted translation taskssaveItems()to retrieve translated content and save it to Experience Workspace
A connector can also implement cancelTranslation() to let authors cancel an in-progress translation job. If the function is omitted, the cancel action is not shown.
This is the minimum API that Experience Workspace requires for a translation service. See the existing connectors for working implementations. The sample connector is a starting point for a custom integration.
